For 50 years, Joico has been lighting the way in professional hairdressing, pioneering techniques that have shaped the industry. To celebrate this milestone, ILLUME brings together four leading artists for a high-impact showcase of creativity, technique, and innovation.

Just as light enhances depth and movement, ILLUME explores how expertly crafted cuts, radiant color, and polished styling work together to transform hair. This dynamic session highlights the connection between structure, tone, and texture—demonstrating how they combine to create hair that shines in every sense.

At the heart of ILLUME are two creative duos, teaming up to showcase the perfect synergy between shape and color. Each pair will bring their own artistic vision, blending precision techniques with fresh, wearable results:

Drawing inspiration from Joico’s 50-year legacy, these teams will take iconic techniques that have defined decades of hairdressing and reimagine them with a fresh, modern perspective. Expect a contemporary take on timeless styles, where structure, movement, and luminous color placement come together to create looks that are both refined and forward-thinking. Bringing it all together are industry icons Kerrie Di Mattia and Duncan Richards, who will guide the session as MCs.

With a focus on real-world salon techniquesILLUME is both an artistic showcase and an educational experience, giving stylists fresh inspiration and practical techniques they can apply immediately.

Katy Reeve | @katyreevehairandlife

powerhouse in cutting and educationKaty Reeve has built a reputation for her technical precision, trend-driven styling, and ability to make education both inspiring and practical. Her career spans editorial, runway, and salon education, working backstage at Fashion Weeks in Sydney, London, and Paris, helping to bring high-fashion hair concepts to life.

With years of experience at the forefront of stylist education, Katy previously held the role of National Creative Director for TONI&GUY Australia, where she mentored and developed emerging talent. Her expertise has been recognized with AHIA Sole Operator of the Year (2023) and AHFA NSW Hairdresser of the Year (2019), along with a Finalist position for Educator of the Year (2024).

Through Katy Reeve Education, she delivers salon-friendly, high-impact techniques in a way that’s engaging, practical, and instantly applicable. Whether refining timeless shapes or reinventing the latest trends, Katy’s expertise gives stylists the confidence to cut, style, and execute with precision and creativity.

Carolyn Gahan | @carolynjayun

Bold, fearless, and always ahead of the curve, Carolyn Gahan has an instinct for fashion-forward hair, striking color, and expressive styling. Originally from Canada, she arrived in Australia in 2011 and quickly became a disruptor in the industry, pushing the boundaries of editorial and salon-friendly hair.

Her work is impossible to ignore—featured in Vogue (May 2024), showcased at Cannes Film Festival, and recognized with Hair Shot of the Year at the 2020 Australian Hair Fashion Awards and Independent Stylist of the Year at the 2022 Australian Hair Industry Awards Creative.

In 2022, she launched Quarry Avenue, a Sydney salon that fuses art, individuality, and high-fashion influence. Carolyn thrives on transforming runway inspiration into wearable, high-impact looks, inspiring stylists to think differently, push creative limits, and take their work to the next level.

Andrew Cobeldick | @andrew.cobeldick

With a sharp eye for structure, movement, and modern versatilityAndrew Cobeldick is redefining cutting and styling with his effortless yet technically refined approach. Recently named New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year at the 2024 Australian Hair Industry Awards Creative, Andrew is known for crafting hair that feels alive—dynamic, fashion-forward, and full of energy.

His skills have been showcased on international runways, including New York Fashion Week, where his ability to blend strong silhouettes with soft, organic texture makes every look feel fresh, wearable, and striking. Whether he’s creating razor-sharp precision cuts or flowing, effortless movement, Andrew’s talent lies in taking classic techniques and making them feel modern and relevant.

Andrew’s work is all about enhancing natural form and celebrating individuality, making him a go-to stylist for those who want to refine their skills while pushing creative boundaries.

Mikelah-Jayde Riley | @mikelah_jayde_studio

A master of balayage, dimensional color, and transformationMikelah-Jayde Riley is known for her seamless blends, lived-in blondes, and bold, statement-making hues. With 16 years in the industry, she has built a reputation for crafting customized, high-impact color that enhances each client’s unique look.

2023 Hot Shots winner and FAME TEAM 2025 Finalist, Mikelah-Jayde leads a team of nine at her Perth-based salon, Mikelah Jayde Studio, where creativity and technical excellence come together. Her expertise extends beyond color into styling and content creation, ensuring every look is not just beautifully executed in the salon but also Instagram-ready, scroll-stopping, and highly shareable.

Passionate about education and skill development, she provides stylists with practical techniques that enhance both creativity and precision, giving them the confidence to deliver exceptional color and styling with impact.
